School wide 9-11 moment of silence and flag etiquette
Posted on 09/09/2016
Today we had our first Friday assembly at Founders.  Mr. Van Ewyk shared with students, faculty and staff proper flag etiquette as several students demonstrated proper raising, lowering and folding of the flag.

Dean Mooney also acknowledged the somber significance of the upcoming anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Dean Mooney's Remarks:

"This Sunday, September 11, 2016 marks the 15-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

September 11 is now known as 'Patriot Day.'  It is a day of remembrance for the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, which included firefighters and police officers.  September 11 is considered a National Day of Service and Remembrance.

Memorial ceremonies and candlelight vigils are held countrywide.  Flags fly at half-staff on this day to remember
that morning, and to acknowledge the heroic Americans who responded with courage, charity, and sacrifice.

Please stand now for a moment of silence in honor of the innocent lives lost on 9/11, 2001.

Thank you."
