Mr. Van Ewyk is Teacher of the Month in January 2016.

Meet Mr. Greg Van Ewyk—Teacher of the Month

This is Mr. Van Ewyk’s 12th year as a history teacher. He first taught for 8 years in Georgia, where he grew up, before moving to New Hampshire. He first heard about The Founders Academy on the radio and was attracted to the school’s mission and to the importance of history in the curriculum.

Mr. Van Ewyk has turned out to be a master of historical reenactment.  8th and 9th grade classes acted out the initial battles of the American Revolution this fall in an outdoor performance. Just before Christmas vacation, 7th grade classes performed King John’s signing of the Magna Carta, in honor of the 800th anniversary of that event.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Van Ewyk is interested in the development of all aspects of Founders. He chairs the Humanities Department and the Curriculum Committee.  He is very active with the student Leadership Committee, which is now planning with him a sports program for the school. Mr. Van Ewyk is also planning to organize academic competitions in geography, history and spelling.

Founders is fortunate to have a very skilled history teacher who believes in our mission and has the knowledge and talents to help us realize it.
