Señora Wherry took the long and winding road to teaching Spanish at the Founders Academy. While in high school Señora Wherry fell in love with studying Biology (Science in general) and Spanish.  Since she couldn’t decide which she loved more, she decided to double major in both in college.  Her respective department advisors were not as thrilled. It wasn’t until her junior year that she took an elective in education and decided she really loved education too but it was too late to change majors. So, after graduating she worked at Perkins School for the Blind for 10 years. She finished up her career at Perkins by working with adults who were visually impaired - helping make worksite accommodations so that the employee could do the same job as a sighted peer. This led to a new love - computers! She worked as a software release engineer before returning to education. Her first mainstream teaching job was in teaching middle school science.

Señora Wherry has traveled to Colombia, Mexico, and Puerto Rico as well as Canada, England and Ireland. Visiting Spain and Costa Rica are on her bucket list. She has 2 daughters, a son and a stepdaughter.

When not teaching, Señora Wherry can be found taking care of her chickens, cooking yummy foods from scratch, gardening, taking piano lessons and going for walks around her neighborhood. She has a black cat named Jelly and can’t keep track of the names of all the chickens.

Mrs. Wherry has been teaching at Founders since 2020. She is excited to work with the wonderful staff and teachers at Founders. She is happy to be part of a school that believes in equipping the future leaders of our country with one of the tools they need to be successful - a foreign language!
