Bonjour!

I am excited to join the new grade 5 program at Founders Academy.

I was born in Maine but grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Last summer, my daughter Willow (currently in grade 7 at Founders) and I moved to NH from Canada. I taught grades 3 and 4 at an English school in a small town in Quebec. Before living in Quebec, we lived on Prince Edward Island, where I did my undergraduate programs and worked as a substitute teacher for the PEI English public school board and as a wildlife technician for a non-profit land trust. This past school year,  I was a math interventionist at South Elementary School in Londonderry, NH.

I live in Londonderry with my girlfriend and her 3 daughters and our three dogs; Twila, Molly, and Tom! For those counting that is 6 humans and 3 dogs, only one of which is considered a boy!

I love spending time outside, especially in the woods--that is my happy place and where I am the most comfortable. I try to incorporate as much of the natural world into my classroom/learning environment. I believe it is very important to create a positive and safe learning environment that treats everyone the same. I do that by leading by example and promoting tolerance, acceptance for all, and making it clear of the expectations for each person entering the classroom.

I love teaching and get energy from educating others, especially if it's about something I am passionate about, like the environment or horses! I have an off the track thoroughbred named PhilFig, and he and I love to jump big jumps together.

When I am not in school or working, I enjoy hiking, camping, spending time with my family, riding and spending time with my horse, volunteering with the United States Pony Club, cooking, baking, and reading.

I look forward to meeting everyone and to an excellent school year.
