Founders Academy Performing Arts Students Take on Charlie Brown
Performing Arts students at The Founders Academy Public Charter School performed, “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” on November 15th and 16th. Audiences were amused by the childlike antics of beloved Peanuts characters and touched by the show's heart-centered messaging.
Student leadership is a central focus of The Founders Academy curriculum and two senior class student assistant directors, Lila Haney and Noah Lockwood, took on these leadership roles for their senior projects. From preparing warm-up exercises to attending auditions and leading rehearsals, these student assistant directors had the opportunity to explore multiple areas of leadership. They shared the responsibility of steering the production and taking special care of the company to build a strong team. The production was rounded out by committed student actors and musicians who brought this story to life.
“I’m very proud of the work of all the students in this production, from props design to our cast and student musicians,” said Kate Mote, Founders’ Theatre Director and Educator. “I am once again amazed at the talent and dedication of our students, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to continue making art with them."
Dean Hayes was in the front row on opening night to view the performance. “The hard work and dedication that every member of this performance team put into the show paid off. The show was fantastic and I am so proud of each and every one of them,” remarked Cassie Hayes, Dean of School.
The Founders Academy is a public charter school for students in grades 5 through 12 that is free and open to all New Hampshire students. The Academy develops leaders who understand and apply the lessons of the past, demonstrate exceptional character and lead by example. The Academy recognizes the importance of balance in the development of the whole person, and respects each student's journey.
Principled leadership is fostered by means of a curriculum of classical studies that includes analyzing the lives of great men and women of history, mining the rich classical ideals of the Western tradition, and tracing the evolution of the precious and costly idea of liberty.
The Founders Academy is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. To learn more about The Founders Academy or to apply for admission, visit www.thefoundersacademy.org.
