Emergencies and Student Safety at The Founders Academy

Updated January 2022 - Updated COVID Isolation and Quarantine Procedures
As you may be aware, NH DHHS has updated its COVID guidance for isolation and quarantine. The complete guidelines can be found here.

The Founders Academy has consistently followed state guidance as closely as possible while working to maintain a safe environment for our students, staff, and families. We have reviewed the new guidance and updated our procedures effective immediately. Below are the updated isolation and quarantine procedures Founders will follow.

1. If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19 regardless, of vaccination status, he/she must isolate (be out of school) for at least 5 days. On day 6 he/she may come to school (with a parent) between 7-7:20am to get a rapid antigen test OR continue to isolate for 5 days (to complete a 10 day isolation period). If the person chooses to test on day 6, he/she may stay at school if the test comes back negative but must wear a well-fitted mask at all times (KN95 masks are recommended). If the test on day 6 is positive, the person must complete a 10 day isolation. Note: Those who have been in isolation for 5-10 days may come to school tomorrow morning between 7-7:20am for a test to possibly end isolation.

2. If a student or staff member is in contact with someone in the community who tests positive, he/she may come to school but must monitor for symptoms closely.

3. If a student or staff member has a household contact who tests positive, he/she must quarantine (stay out of school) for 5 days if he/she is unvaccinated or not up to date on vaccination (meaning has not received a booster 6 months post original vaccination). The person should test on day 5 and wear a well-fitted mask at all times for an additional 5 days. Vaccinated contacts do not need to quarantine but should monitor for symptoms closely, wear a well-fitted mask at all times, and test on day 5.

Below are flow charts explaining the process if a person tests positive or has a household contact who tests positive.

Note: This procedure could change based on the increase in COVID cases in our community.

Thank you for your continued effort to keep our community safe.

Student safety is the first priority for Founders' faculty and staff.
As such, the school has a standing internal committee to monitor and address safety. That committee is called the Founders' Safety Committee.

The Safety Committee is made up of teachers, administrators, and staff with frequent consultation from the Manchester Police and Fire Departments. It was created to establish and review safety and emergency procedures as well as instruct teachers to assist students with these procedures. Students regularly practice safety drills throughout the school year and discuss safety procedures in classes.

The Safety Committee continues to review safety procedures in order to evaluate and update as needed. The Safety Committee meets once per month or more if necessary.
