American Presidency Class Fieldtrip to Pierce Home

Mr. Healey’s History of the American Presidency class took their in-class studies to the home of President Franklin Pierce where they learned from experts and historians about the life and legacy of our 14th president!

They saw artifacts within his home like kitchen supplies, campaign items, clothes, and even an original copy of Nathaniel Hawthorne's biography of Pierce! Through photos and artifacts, students were able to get a deeper sense of life in the 19th century, while learning about Pierce's complicated life and presidency.

The students also visited Old North Cemetery (not too far from his home) where Pierce and his family are buried.
